Hammer offers external hard drive
05/02/08
by By SearchStorage.com editors
Hammer Storage, a division of Bell Microproducts, launched an external hard drive that connects via USB 2.0. The drive, dubbed morespace, is priced under 25 cents per gigabyte for models above 500 GB in capacity and can be found at retail stores and online retailers. The drive is backed by a one-year warranty and Hammer support. Capacities include 250 GB up to 1 TB, with 1.5 TB expected to be offered later this quarter.
Hammer Storage Offers Morespace (Really, More Space.)
04/29/08
by By Mathew Reuther
If you've got an OEM computer and fairly limited technical knowledge, external storage can be a lifesaver when your original drive starts to fill up. For those buyers out there who don't mind cracking open their PC and installing a new hard drive, external hard disks are mainly used as backup devices or for portable storage. No matter what your need, Hammer Storage has designed the Morespace line of USB 2.0 hard drives to cover it.
The great NAS box Transfer-Off
08/07/07
by Dave Murphy
This route might be less sexy than a software-themed interface, but man, does it work. We nearly spit on the ground with joy when the myshare was loaded and ready to go in less than 10 seconds… And in our highly scientific "transfer a lot of stuff" test, we were able to toss over a 3.6GB chunk of files in an average time of 5:13 (minutes: seconds). That, dear readers, is awesome.
Easy Terabyte Network Attached Storage
07/29/07
by David Ziser
I came across an article in PC magazine a while back talking about this new company –Hammer Storage. John Dvorak, the columnist, was mentioning what a great piece of backup hardware they made called "myshare". "Myshare" is a network attached storage (NAS) device in the very reasonable $429 range.
I thought I would give it a try and, so far have been quite happy with the results. It was fairly easy to set up – about 15 minutes – and when I ran into one "hitch" the company’s tech support was quick to pick up the phone and resolve the issue. That was a pleasant experience in this digital day and age.

Hammer myshare Review: Newcomer NAS runs with the dual-drive pack
06/11/07
by Jim Buzbee
I've reviewed a lot of Network Attached Storage (NAS) products over the last few years. Typically they are either single-disk units marketed toward home users, or RAID 5 capable, four-disk units geared more toward business use. Recently, there seem to be more dual-drive units coming on the market. These units take a middle-ground approach, supporting the lower RAID levels while keeping the cost down.
In this review, I'll check out a dual-drive NAS box from Hammer Storage. The gigabit-capable myshare HN1200 supports RAID levels 0 and 1, has dual USB ports for print serving or storage expansion, and is fairly inexpensive. A one Terabyte HN1200 can be picked up for less than $500.
Hammer Storage myshare

The latest entrant into an already-crowded small/home office network storage market is the Hammer Storage Myshare, a device available in five capacities ranging from 320 GB to 1.5 TB (with a 2 TB model scheduled to join the lineup in August). While it doesn't provide everything offered by competing products, the Myshare manages to distinguish itself with an impressive feature set for its relatively modest price. (The 1 TB model we tested carries a $499 MSRP, but prices range from $299 to $799.)

Hammer Storage aims to simplify sharing and backing up digital content with its Myshare HN1200-500 network-attached-storage (NAS) drive. This NAS device performed well and delivered on that promise, but its setup and interface are a bit inscrutable for novices.

Network-Attached Storage Finally Catches On
05/02/07
by John C. Dvorak
Right now, the killer solution has to be the MyShare from Hammer Storage. For under $500, you get a 1-terabyte NAS drive that links to your network over Gigabit Ethernet. To make things even more interesting, the device includes two USB ports, so you can attach standalone USB hard disks and share those on the network, too. One cool thing about NAS is that it can bridge PC, Linux, and Mac systems. You can even set up multiple users with their own passwords for security purposes. Hot trend!

Consumer/small-office storage vendor Hammer Storage on March 22 introduced a new appliance resembling a microwave oven that provides 1TB of data storage — for a retail price of $499.
The appliance, called myshare 1TB, is the first release in a new product line now being developed by Hammer, a division of Bell Microproducts. myshare comes with two SATA II hard drives along with two USB ports to centralize printers and external hard drives, a company spokesperson said.
myshare offers remote access via IP/TCP ports; all content stored on the unit can be made accessible from anywhere through a Web GUI. Selective access to sharing folders can be set up by the administrator.

Instead, Bell Microproducts took to the sea and chose a real vessel moored in the beautiful San Diego Bay – instead of an SNW booth – to demo its new Hammer line of entry-level storage devices. Renamed the "SS Zetera" – appropriate because the devices are based on Zetera's Z-SAN technology – for the show's duration, the yacht is certainly one of the most scenic demo spaces I've ever seen at an SNW show.

More Zetera-powered Network Storage on the Way

by Victor Loh
Like the Storage Central, the Hammer's network drives appear on the desktop as local hard disks. One of the more promising aspects of SoIP is its enhanced scalability thanks to Zetera's controllerless, virtualized storage architecture. With the Hammer, it's easy to create logical drives that span across disks and even other Hammer devices through a network switch. Try doing that on a NAS!

Zetera's technology finds its way into products for higher end business needs
1/6/06
by Jennifer Zaino
Storage-over-IP technology vendor Zetera is seeing its Z-SAN technology move into products designed for higher-end business technology needs... Zetera's system is purportedly the first in the industry to deliver a true SoIP architecture by using IP as the storage fabric, and it eliminates the pricey physical transport gateways and disk controllers that contribute to the expense of SANs. It also does away with the bottlenecks: Since the technology works with normal IP switches, all that's needed for a speed boost is another switch.
